It is difficult to settle the well-designed local terminology for imaging report in the hospital information system (HIS). One of the major reasons is the local terminology with poor contents have been used in the hospital. Thus, we mapped the locally used common terms in nuclear medicine imaging reports to RadLex and SNOMED CT, which had been widely used in the electronic medical record system. We mapped our local imaging report terms with RadLex and SNOMED CT terminology system, using RadLex Tree Browser (RSNA informatics ver 3.5) and CliniClue Browser (ver. 2011.8.0261). Mapping results were classified into lexical, semantic, and no mapping, and compared. Preliminary results of mapping shows that lexical mapping rate was higher for SNOMED CT(59.7%) than RadLex (29.2%). 75% of the terms were lexically and semantically mapped to SNOMED CT and less than 50% to RadLex. Some terms(17%) including nuclear medicine-specific, however, were not mapped. Further studies may be warranted.
